Sabotaged!!!

"Guess who is the girl in the Hanky-Panky picture?"

I got sabotaged over the weekend, by my accidental spy whom I bumped into in Melbourne. And I didnt even realise until another friend msg me and asked me to look at the msn group website. I thought he was referring to a joke. Anyway, this is the result of his papparazzi skills. Not to mention a poll dedicated specially to this picture, titled the same as the caption.

Now all my friends in uni are voting. Hahaha. At initial stage, I only received 1 vote. And my good friend Grace received 2. Hahahaha. She was more likely the one who was in the hanky panky picture :P Of course a few friends knew, and they stayed away from the poll.

Now we are even - I got 2 votes and she got 2 votes. Other girls receiving 1 vote each. Haha. A few people are still "asleep", totally unaware of such scandalous and interesting poll. At the end of the poll, it was written,

"answer to be revealed after exams..."

Hahaha. Damn funny. Not to mention Grace having such a good laugh she couldnt stop for 10 minutes. Thanks grace. I bet your tummy hurts now.

I wanted to be evil and tip the scale, by voting for Grace. Hahaha. I was sooooo tempted :P But I decided, nah, I'll keep it fair. Haha. Although I have a feeling that Grace would come out as the poll winner... *angelic* For those who voted for Grace, haha, I dont know what happened. She doesnt have such straight hair, and those who observed would have seen me wear that jacket ONCE at a party. Not to mention "Grace" looks kinda short in the picture...hahaha.

Damn, what a good laugh during the stressed period.

My current obsessions...

Maybach Exelero
(autoweek.com)

*falls in love*

This is really love at first sight. So beautiful, so sexy, so exciting!!!

Dont you think so? Omg, its so beautiful...

6.0-litre AMG V12, 700hp, 350km/h

Just look at it, enough to make me melt...

Germans, somehow I love German cars, BMW, Porsche, Merc-Benz.. I love you Germans!!! I mean cars...

My second obsession,

The very new Samsung E530. Wahahahaha. Such a girlie phone hor? But its quite nice leh, and I chose pink lah. Hahaha. Saw it at the phone dealer yesterday. Looks like an egg, quite small too. Ahem. Its specially designed for the females. But of course macho guys are free to get it too :P nice not?

1 megapixel camera (quite minimal) only though. Here rrp is $599. So not worth it. Features? Its not a fantastic to die for kinda phone, but its cute enough. Hehehe. Although I've all the while stick to heavy duty phones that can be dropped 100x or even fall down the stairs (ahem) and still survive. Haha.

And last but not least...

Ipod Nano...

So sleek hor? Colour screen somemore. I like! :P Here 2gb is selling for $249, which is only a little more than the 1gb shuffle ($199). But then apparently there are a lot of feedback saying that it is "faulty". HMmm. But then again, I have my shuffle. I should be happy yea? Hehehe.

Alright, that's it for my current obsessions. Now going back to my other current obsessions, my projects.

Cookies! with love..

Remember the failure that got made into a success? Hahaha... here is the real thing I was making.. london almond cookies

I got up one morning and thought, "Hmm. I'll make this cookie for *someone*. And then I'll post it all the way to Brisbane. Hahaha. It's going to be a surprise!!! *evil grin* " But knowing myself, I can barely keep the secret to myself when its something so exciting!!! Have to zip my mouth, so 'sanfu' ah!!

So I melted the chocolates on Sunday right after I came back from uni to do my project. It was already the last day of holidays, and I thought, if I dont do it today, I'll never be able to finish it. I went out to buy normal cooking chocolate and another pack of compound chocolate. Put them into the pot, started boiling the water and hoped for the best...

They melted pretty quickly. And soon it was nice and creamy. Hehehe. As soon as it melted completely, I removed it from the stove. I think I must have over-boiled the chocolates the first round, that's why they were so thick. This time it was beautiful... hehehe.

These are the cookies I baked on Friday, all waiting to be coated with chocolate..

See how much I made? One whole recipe is about 160 pieces. Mould until my hands were so sore. Took me 4 hours just to do all that ok!!! From mixing the dough, to getting the almonds roasted, to wrapping the almond in the dough, then shape it so that its nice. Then baking it. Wah!!! Usually when my aunty in KL makes this cookie for CNY me and my sisters would be so scared because its so much work. I still cant believe I did all that myself, for what? All for the sake of trying to make someone happy.

When I told my aunty that I wanted to bake this cookie the other day she was like,

"Huh? Why? Why suddenly want to bake?"

ERrr.. want to eat loh. Hehe.

Then I asked her if I can post food across Australia. How long will it take? Is it safe? Expensive?

"Why so gan jeong? Post to bf ah?"

O_O NO! My friend bday mah. So I'm making some for her loh.

LAME!!!

Back to the chocolate dipping..

I only intended to coat enough cookies to post over. Looking at them, looking at the remaining chocolate in the packet, I thought, "ah! I'll finish it today lah. If I dont finish it, it's going to sit in the pantry forever!!" I finally did all of them. I cant believe I was so patient. But looking at the cookies that I made, looking at them, thinking I'm going to post them to *someone* as a surprise, I felt that it was all worth it...

looking good... hehehe

All these in 1 hr 15 mins, feeling very unproductive, and when I look at how much more I have left, I almost fainted...

after 4 hours of hard work...

Went to class on Monday, typed my report, handed it in, and went to the post office. Express post or normal post? Express post or normal post? Express post is quite expensive, but at least it wont be "nowhere" for a few days! Not to mention weather is getting warm, I dont want my cookies to melt!!! Express post 'guarantees delivery within the next business day'. Ahem. But since I'm posting to a suburb it will arrive on Wednesday wor..

"Ok. The postage will cost $29.90."

-_-"

$30 on postage. So damn ex ah!!! But nevermind lah. I just hope it arrives "safely" and on time. Pray pray pray!!! Finally the whole box of cookies was out of my hands...

Hehehe. Surprised? Hmm.. my friend was. He keeps telling me "I still cant believe you actually did that. My niece! Baking!!! Haha." Cant believe? I only gave him little bit lah, no need to butter up so much gua?!

The parcel arrived at 8am this morning, Eastern states time. Hahahaha. I'm so happy it arrived, safely, and someone was still at home to receive it. Hehe. Yay!!! Now waiting for feedback..

Folks, Express Post is a very reliable service, although it might cost you a bit. Haha :P

HAPPY BIRTHDAY PUI SAN!!!

WOMAN!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

*pls refer to Gr8GangBlog

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I WOULD DIE FOR YOU!!! although I know you wont want me to do that right? Because you love me right? Haha.

Anyway, I know I'm getting damn cheong hei, both sides also post. But that just shows how important you are to me mah... sniff.. sniff...

Expectations?

Expectations make us improve ourselves.
Expectations make us push ourselves to the limit.

But what if those expectations are in conflict with your set of values or principles? But yet, meeting that expectation is important to you because that person is important to you.

I told a friend of mine, "Expectations leads to pressure and pressure leads to unhappiness." Haha. He said I might as well not live. I'm not saying expectations are bad for us. But when that expectation leads us to do something totally against our will, it is deemed to be bad. Of course, if we ever walk that path, it is us who is silly for making such a decision. We should be able to differentiate which expectations are to be met, and which are to be ignored.

I admit, I do not take negative criticisms about me well. To me, I am good enough. When someone tells me that I have a lot to improve on areas I think I fare well, I get unhappy. I get angry. A weak point of mine - not willing to accept negative criticisms, which I should, and evaluate them. If I think I do need to improve, I will. But firstly you would have to convince me that I do need improvement and I need to think that you are worth listening to. Haha.

So, who has to right to impose expectations on you? I strongly believe, if you want to criticise someone, first evaluate yourself. If you want to laugh at someone for being fat and ugly, please look in the mirror first. Are you perfect? Nobody is. Just because that person does not meet your benchmark, it does not mean that person is a "failed product". These benchmarks are set by humans, and humans are not perfect. One man's food is another's poison. So unless you are stick-thin (which I seriously hope you are not, I dont want to be standing next to someone who looks like they just got out of a refuge camp), please do not mock a perfectly physically normal person for being fat. My apologies, I wasnt trying to insult anyone, but I simply used a very common example of negative criticism being passed on. Unless that person's weight is giving health complications, I dont think a person can be "too fat". I think its a shame that the majority of the public is aiming towards this waif-like figure made famous by models like Kate Moss. Everyone is becoming so "straight" that suddenly our bone structure is becoming pointless. Again, no offence intended.

Meeting expectations can be a tiring thing. As we continually push ourselves to achieve the best, as we continually try to meet someone's expectations on us, we've got to somehow receive positive feedback in order to keep the flame burning. Imagine working years and years towards this goal. But at the end of that journey, you are told that everything that you have done, everything that you have worked hard for, meant nothing to them. You simply didnt cut the mark. How would you feel? Devastated? Defeated? Angry? Disappointed? Unless you are someone with an endless amount of energy and confidence, such that no matter what others tell you, no matter how others view you, you believe that you will be able to succeed, which is only a very small percentage of people. If you are the majority, you will definitely feel put-off. You will probably feel very pointless and start to think, "am I that useless? Was I that lousy? what have I done all those years? Rubbish?" Constant feedback is definitely needed, be it negative or positive. Although positives ones tend to do more good because they indirectly become motivation to continue working harder towards the goal. Negative feedback will definitely exist, but its up to us to turn that negative feedback into something positive. No point telling that person "your work sucks and I think you might as well give up because you are in a totally wrong direction." We're better off giving that person some new pointers, pointing him/her in the right direction. I know some of you will definitely think I am being very naive here because in real life, no one would be so free to always watch over what you are doing. And if you are doing the wrong thing, you are mostly likely to get a nice kick in the a** than a new pointer. But dont you think everything would be more efficient if only that method was applied? Everyone would be helping each other, trying to achieve their goals. Just my 2 cents. Okay, I digress on this point. I dont want to get flamed for talking about something I know nothing of.

When expectations are not met, disappointment comes along. The greater the expectation, the greater the disappointment. That does not mean we shouldnt have expectations, because if we do not have expectations, we will be going nowhere. For the rest of our lives, we would start where we were, and finish where we started. There will be no progress, there will be no achievements, there will be no satisfaction. I'm not a person who expects a lot. Sometimes I do expect a lot from myself. I expect myself to perform the best and I get very disappointed with myself if I fail to meet my own expectations. I understand others are not obligated to do anything for you, nor meet any of your expectations. And therefore I try not to expect anything from anyone. Dont expect anything, and you will find that you have a handful. Expect too much, and you will never be satisfied with what you have. If you always find yourself disappointed with someone, you know you are expecting too much from him/her.

Before I end this post, I just want to say, this post was not written to offend anyone, nor to make anyone feel bad/guilty or whatever it is. It's just something I wanted to blog about long time ago and never had the chance. So I thought before I make another food post (if I have), I better post this...

Turning failure into success

I suddenly felt like being a bit domesticated.. Hahaha. Amazed leh? I didnt burn down the kitchen ok!!! Anyway, I was supposed to do something, but then it didnt turn out. The chocolate that I melted (ooh...yummy yummy) wasnt 'runny' enough to do what I wanted to do. No, I'm not going to tell you what I was supposed to do. Anyway...

I spent more than one hour trying to melt the chocolate over a pot of boiling water over the stove. It melted, but it was too thick!!! Why ah?! I keep thinking maybe the water droplets from the lid fell into my chocolate and so now the consistency is like that!!! *cry* All my effort and time... gone!! Not to mention the first thing that was gone was my mood to continue whatever I was doing. Sigh. Stirring and stirring, keep adding boiling water to the other pot, keep boiling and boiling, but the chocolate just didnt get to what I wanted it to be!!!!

Looking at the yummy yummy bowl of melted dark chocolate ... just looking at it, stirring it, smelling its rich aroma, oooh...I almost ate the whole pot by itself! :P Hahaha.

yummy not? melted dark chocolats leh!!! WAH!!! Looks yucky? Its melted chocolate ok! what do you expect it to look like!?

Anyway, I cant be throwing the whole pot of the world's greatest creation into the bin right? I decided to do this... hehehe

Everybody nice or not?! Wahahahaha. Chocolate coated strawberries! *drools* I used those little little cake cases and it looks so cute! Just like those you get from dessert shops. It's compound chocolate, so I didnt need to put them into the fridge. It sets by itself. Hehehe. It was so yummy!!! I can taste the rich dark chocolate.... aahhh... how I love chocolate and strawberries.

So there you are, a failure turned into success!!! Hehehe.

But then strawberries cant keep that long, especially when I've dipped them into HOT chocolate, hahaha. I'm going to bring some to a few friends tomorrow and Monday. Hehehe. Save some for myself also lah :P

Although it was so cute, I cant help thinking about my other failed project. Sigh. Still cant figure out why the chocolate was so thick. Can anyone give me any pointers? I melted this chocolate before. It wasnt this thick. The only reason I can think of is the water droplets. *cry*

OK! I dont care! Tomorrow I'm going to buy another 2 packets of those Nestle Melts and try again. This time I'm not going to use the lid! Stupid lid! And if its still too thick, I'll add normal cooking chocolate. Can? Think it will work? Wish me all the best!!! I'm determined to 'save' my project... gambate!!!

*uni starting on Monday ah!!! Scared.. better finish my chocolate project by tomorrow..
