Random Poll 1: Will I survive Mass Communication?

Hahaha. Ok. This is really random. I told a friend long ago that if I didnt do engineering, I might do either Medicine, Law, or even Mass Communication.

"What? You want to do mass comm? Hahaha. Are you crazy? You're too smart to do mass comm lah..."

-_-" Why? I'm not smart. Only dumb people can do mass comm ah?!

"Yea! Only those who cant get into anything else will do mass comm. You know how many ppl doing mass comm or not? wah liao, and you wont survive lah."

*no offence to anyone out there*

I dont think people do mass comm because they cant get into anything else. You're being so stereotypical. Just because you are smart! Cheh!!!

"Of course I'm smart! *chest out* "

Useless. Typical Singaporean.

Then yesterday I was asking another friend, what do you think of mass comm?

"Mass comm? Why? You want to do ah?"

Yeah. I find it quite interesting. I've got a friend doing that and its very different from engineering. It sounds like so much fun.

"Errr... I dont think you'll survive lah. You probably cant tolerate those chitty chatty girls. You know mass comm girls talk so much. And its all those girly talks."

Girly talks? Haha. Now that's something new. I just find the field challenging, in a different kind of way. But dont tell me the whole gang also so girly wan meh? I'm sure I can find someone more ahem, stable.

"Most of them are. And you are the golden mouth type, how to survive? I've got a few friends at church who does mass comm and I really cant stand them."

Hahahaha. Hmmm. Then I'll probably die trying to shut my ears. Hahaha. But mass comm can be so fun! Right?

2 people telling me I cant survive mass comm. Not to mention my dad being a wet blanket years ago too. He's saying that I'm not verbally agressive enough. I wont survive it. 3 people. Wow.

Why dont you tell me. Will I survive mass comm? Can I 'beat' those chitty chatty girls? And no, I have no interest in becoming one of them. Hahaha. *shivers* Girly talks really puts me off. But then again someone just said that I am kiddy last night *cry* Maybe I've been stuck in engineering too long. I need to get some new exposure. Haha.

But before that, tell me, will I survive mass comm?

Oink Oink

I have this tendency to fall alseep after every meal. Ahem. Sounds like a what? Sorry, I didnt hear you. Hahaha.

Of course that is not possible on weekdays after breakfast - which I have in the car :P or after lunch - which I will be having in a rush because I'm at uni. But on any other days, any opportunity there is, I will definitely have this strong urge to pig out. Hahahaha. 2-3 hours at least. Accidentally did 6 hours once :P

I'm now in the middle of my 2 week 'non-teaching break'. Gotta get that right. It's not a study break, because we are meant to do studies, but its a break where we simply stop attending lectures. Although that doesnt stop us from rocking up to uni almost every other day! Sigh. Sorry, I dont mean me *angelic* I've been slacking at home for as long as I can remember, sleeping, eating, playing spider solitaire (sad life, I know..), reading other people's blogs (keep blogging because I'm reading!! :P), watching movies and the list goes on. Projects piling up, group members starting to send threatening messages over msn that hints one way or another that I should start moving my butt.

"Chill ok!!! I will move my butt. I just dont know when! Gotta give it time you know. It's not easy to move such a fat and lazy butt!"

Hahaha. Ok. I didnt really say that. That was just me telling myself that, just to make myself feel a teeny-weeny less guilty.

Sigh. I feel like sleeping now. Guess what I had for lunch? :P I had self-made chicken wrap with Nando's chicken *drools* and shredded cheese. It was divine!!! Actually, just give me Nando's chicken anytime and I will think that you are God. Only for that moment though. Hahaha.

Not to mention my blood pressure boiling during my supposedly lovely lunch. Am I going to let someone ruin my perfect lunch? NO! But still, I cant stand people who gets on my nerves. Ahem. I cant stand people who doesnt know what the word R.E.S.P.E.C.T. mean. I mean, gawd! They even have a song about it! Geez, I sound like some snob-biatch complaining. Hahaha. Ok lah, someone just made me quite angry during lunch. Not happy about it. No, it wasnt my bf. And no matter how much I try to ignore it (because I always remember that "ignorance is bliss"), I still cant. I seriously think I need to work on my ignorance skills. Or my life will definitely be 20 years shorter due to consistent self-inflicted anger.

Oops. I deviated so much from my original post. Aih. Buddha said, to understand everything is to forgive everything. HMmm... you know what? It sounds too chim for me to understand. I only understand that in order to understand that, I first need to learn to forgive. *breathes in, breathes out* I still cant.

Who cares. I'm going to be a pig. And once I finish being a pig, I will forget everything that ever happened. Who said I need to learn to forgive? I just need to sleep!!! Ahhh....wonderful sleep... Zzz

*stupid post I know, sorry*

Brownlow Medal 2005 Highlights

Wahahahaha... now that you have seen last year's stunning dress, you can see this year's.

Hmm.. I quite like this one. Although it looks more like a seducing wedding gown. But dont you think its nice? Hehehe. I like this one. Definitely.

This one reminds me of the "dress" the seagull made for Ariel in The Little Mermaid. Hahaha. Agree or not? Looks kinda weird to me. The exposure of the belly doesnt look too appropriate here. I think its better if te opening wasnt there. But nice one too. I like how it is backless though I doubt you can see from here. If you look carefully you can see the dress is held by that strap around her arms.

Brownlow Medal 2005 winner Ben Cousins. Quite a handsome hunk, but sported a black eye that night. What a shame. I like his partner's dress though. Sweet and simple. Really nice. I like.

Apparently this dress made head turn and made light bulbs flash. Well, its got that vintage look. It will definitely cause more "wow" and "ooh"s than the rest that I've mentioned because of its material and style. Very classic look. But somehow I always prefer something smoother. Hmmm. Not bad lah. Depends what look you are going for.

Last year's prince and princess. Haha. Still looking good. The dress looks very soft and flowy. Apparently the flowers are hand painted. Among all that I've show, I think I like this best. Hahaha. How sad. The first white piece will probably come second. This one wins the white one because it looks more dicrete, and its in a soft colour!!!! wahahahaha. Ahem.

Hehe. Dont ask me the footballer's names because I dont know :P Dont ask me what the medal really represents either because I dont know. I only know how to give comments on which dress I like. So shoot me! Haha.

This thing about footballer's partners. How come they are always so pretty huh? How come they always have high profiles huh? Like some celebrity. This one I definitely dont understand. Dont ask, I dont understand why footballers get paid millions of dollars a year just to play their favourite game either. Footballer's life really so high profile wan meh? Aih... not my kinda thing. Not my sport also.

Brownlow Medal 2004 Dress of the Night

Heard of the Brownlow Medal? Nevermind if you havent. It is not important. Hahaha. Its just an award for the footballer of the year. Tonight the tv was showing the 2005 event. And suddenly it made me remember the stunning dress last year...

Everybody...nice or not?

Plunging neckline all the way to the belly button, diamond piece at the back, all the way down to her bum line. That dress was made specially for her and I think it costs around $2k. Oh, and she had to use tape to hold that dress to her breasts. Wahahaha. But I seriously admire her, she has the body to wear it and she isnt shy to wear it.

Her medal winner bf Chris Judd. How beautiful.

I wonder what will be the 2005 dress of the year. Hahaha.

On hiatus

I am taking a break from blogging. I have not been playing my priorities right, and its high time I do so. Time management and self-discipline is something that I greatly lack at the moment. I really need to get back on track. Dont worry about me, I am fine. I am eating well and sleeping well. Hehehe.

Take care everyone!!!

September 09, 2005

its POETS day again!!!

wahahahahaha...my favourite day! Everyone's favourite day!!! Besides the weekends lah of course. Well, I left uni VERY early :P Left at about 1.30pm after speaking to one of the expo day lady. She wants me to demonstrate a robot next Sunday. I dont mind actually, it'll be very interesting because I get to play with the robot all day long!!! Wahahahaha. Yea, I think I will lah. Got to send my lecturer an email so that he can give me a briefing on how to use it.

So anyway, was standing beside my car, when I thought, aih, call some friends to have lunch together lah.

"uncle!!! Let's go have lunch!!! Hahaha."

"Wah! Good. I was just looking for people to have lunch with me."

We went to THE chicken rice place, hahaha. Cheap food, but the portion damn small. After finishing my nasi lemak I only felt half full. How sad is that?! My friend, who is known as the most stingy fella, suddenly felt like spending money today! whoa!!! After finishing lunch, he suggested we go to Dome just down the road. I was thinking, omg! What has hit you?! You are spending money!!!! And you want to go to DOME!!! O_O" Hahaha. I nudged my friend and she agreed. Since the blue moon has appeared, we must make full use of this opportunity!!! wahahaha..

Dome... such a nice place. They extended their menu, now its looking oh-so yummilicious!!!! Maybe its just marketing. Hahaha. But reading their menu made me feel so tempted to order something. But then I thought, nah. Getting really fatty at the moment. Cannot eat so much. Only ordered a drink. Then sit there, talk. Then another uncle came to join us. Talk some more. Haha. Planning where we want to go for the next eating adventure! :P buffet is always an attractive option for the bottomless-pit people. Ahem. That includes me, sometimes. When my stomach is the right way up. I realise most engineering people has got bottomless pits. Wonder why.

Then came back, send my cousin off to the airport. Going to melbourne for the weekend. Sigh. How I wish I can fly to Melbourne for the weekend too. Just to eat. Italian food. Walk around. Need to work hard now. Then earn enough money to do that. Wahahaha. Imagine flying back to KL or Penang to eat char kuey teow...wah!!! *drools*

Oh, they opened a new Dome at the domestic airport. Hahaha. My uncle was like, "come come, Let's have coffee and cake." I was thinking, DOME AGAIN?!! Hahaha. Yes, so I Dome-d for the second time today. All within 3 hours. This time I couldnt resist not eating. I just have to have that blueberry crumble. And trust me, it was very very nice!! It was so light and crumbly, and it wasnt sweet at all *mamma mia*!!! How I wish I have the recipe then maybe I can try it out. Eh! Dont laugh ok!!! I cant cook, but I can bake!!! Hahaha. Gosh, who am I kidding man? Sigh.

Dome-ing twice a day can be very addictive. Believe me. Already I feel like making another trip back to try the other cakes and food on their menu. Just look too good. Cant control myself. Just now another friend asked me, "free tomorrow?" Hahaha. Maybe I should say yes and then go to Dome again. Hahaha. I'm sure he doesnt mind :P

OMG, am I boosting Dome's profits? Hahaha. I can hear the cash register going ka-ching over and over again already!!! Ok ok, must not go out tomorrow. Need to do projects. Cannot go to Dome again! Twice in one day already too much!!! not to mention getting fatty fatty. Tsk tsk. Someone should just chain me to the house. Then guarantee I cannot go out. Do you think I can control myself? Errr... not very likely huh? Hahaha. Gone case.

But the Dome here damn nice leh!!! The Dome's in KL does not offer such nice and so much food!!! Therefore must eat. Since they make so much effort to bake all those cakes, preparing those yummy food. Someone must show appreciation and eat it lah. Imagine those food going to waste. Tsk tsk. *shakes head* My mummy always teach me not to waste food. Think of those kids in Africa!!! No food to eat!!! aiyah... yalah. I was brought up well. I must help to eat those food. Musn't let it go to waste. Very jit toh wan you know?

Man, I just love eating. I think if war is to hit Australia, I am definitely the first to die. Hahahaa. No food..cham.

Being poor

Being poor is knowing exactly how much everything costs.

Being poor is getting angry at your kids for asking for all the crap they see on TV.

Being poor is having to keep buying $800 cars because they're what you can afford, and then having the cars break down on you, because there's not an $800 car in America that's worth a damn.

Being poor is hoping the toothache goes away.

Being poor is knowing your kid goes to friends' houses but never has friends over to yours.

Being poor is going to the restroom before you get in the school lunch line so your friends will be ahead of you and won't hear you say "I get free lunch" when you get to the cashier.

Being poor is living next to the freeway.

Being poor is coming back to the car with your children in the back seat, clutching that box of Raisin Bran you just bought and trying to think of a way to make the kids understand that the box has to last.

Being poor is wondering if your well-off sibling is lying when he says he doesn't mind when you ask for help.

Being poor is off-brand toys.

Being poor is a heater in only one room of the house.

Being poor is knowing you can't leave $5 on the coffee table when your friends are around.

Being poor is hoping your kids don't have a growth spurt.

Being poor is Goodwill underwear.

Being poor is not enough space for everyone who lives with you.

Being poor is feeling the glued soles tear off your supermarket shoes when you run around the playground.

Being poor is your kid's school being the one with the 15-year-old textbooks and no air conditioning.

Being poor is thinking $8 an hour is a really good deal.

Being poor is relying on people who don't give a damn about you.

Being poor is an overnight shift under florescent lights.

Being poor is finding the letter your mom wrote to your dad, begging him for the child support.

Being poor is believing a GED actually makes a goddamned difference.

Being poor is people angry at you just for walking around in the mall.

Being poor is not taking the job because you can't find someone you trust to watch your kids.

Being poor is the police busting into the apartment right next to yours.

Being poor is not talking to that girl because she'll probably just laugh at your clothes.

Being poor is hoping you'll be invited for dinner.

Being poor is a sidewalk with lots of brown glass on it.

Being poor is people thinking they know something about you by the way you talk.

Being poor is needing that 35-cent raise.

Being poor is people surprised to discover you're not actually lazy.

Being poor is a six-hour wait in an emergency room with a sick child asleep on your lap.

Being poor is never buying anything someone else hasn't bought first.

Being poor is picking the 10 cent ramen instead of the 12 cent ramen because that's two extra packages for every dollar.

Being poor is having to live with choices you didn't know you made when you were 14 years old.

Being poor is getting tired of people wanting you to be grateful.

Being poor is knowing you're being judged.

Being poor is knowing how hard it is to stop being poor.

Being poor is seeing how few options you have.

Being poor is running in place.

Being poor is people wondering why you didn't leave.

After reading this whole post, I cant help but think how much things in life we have taken for granted. Every night food is layed on the table, waiting to be eaten. The house we live in, the clothes we wear. The level of education we have received so far. Almost all of us made it to university or at least a high level of education. The cost of things that we buy, just because it is the latest and the coolest. Simple things that we take for granted. Not to mention how lucky we are to live in a country free of natural distaters. Think of the hurricane Katrina that hit America. The lives that were lost. Homes that were destroyed.

I think the worst case of poverty is when your parents have to chop off your limbs, just so that you can beg for food/money. Think of the poor child. Think of the sufferrings he has to go through.

Arent we all very lucky? I definitely think we are.

September 04, 2005

omigosh!!!

I am feeling extremely bored this moment, and although I really should be looking at my book, I'm looking at the screen. Hahaha. Guess what? There's no better way to kill time by reading blogs, and try quizzes you bump into along the way :P A personality test:

Your view on yourself:
You are intelligent, honest and sweet. You are friendly to everybody and don't like conflict. Because you're so cheerful and fun people are naturally attracted to you and like to talk to you.

whoa whoa whoa!! friendly? Me? I can see everyone laughing...

The type of girlfriend/boyfriend you are looking for:
You are a true romantic. When you are in love, you will do anything and everything to keep your love true.

ROFL. I can just see someone so ready to prove this wrong. Haha.

Your readiness to commit to a relationship:
You are ready to commit as soon as you meet the right person. And you believe you will pretty much know as soon as you might that person.

The seriousness of your love:
You are very serious about relationships and aren't interested in wasting time with people you don't really like. If you meet the right person, you will fall deeply and beautifully in love.

Your views on education
Education is very important in life. You want to study hard and learn as much as you can.

The right job for you:
You have plenty of dream jobs but have little chance of doing any of them if you don't focus on something in particular. You need to choose something and go for it to be happy and achieve success.

How do you view success:
You are confident that you will be successful in your chosen career and nothing will stop you from trying.

What are you most afraid of:
You are afraid of things that you cannot control. Sometimes you show your anger to cover up how you feel.

Who is your true self:
You are mature, reasonable, honest and give good advice. People ask for your comments on all sorts of different issues. Sometimes you might find yourself in a dilemma when trapped with a problem, which your heart rather than your head needs to solve.

Hmm...quite interesting. Although the first few personality traits are ...ahem. Hard to believe. Hahaha. But its harmless. At least it makes me laugh and makes my eyes pop out reading about what they think is my personalilty through an analysis of 10 questions. If you can really tell someone's personality with 10 questions, there is no such thing as complicated anymore. There is no need to "get to know someone" more anymore because you can just ask him/her 10 questions and you can know all about him/her. Not to mention the old saying that you're continuously learning something new about your partner as you spend more time together will sound totally useless. Oh well. These quizzes are just for fun, and they made me laugh. Hehehe. Did it make you laugh? I'm sure the first few did...

Murphy's Law

Firstly, sorry people!!! I've been sooooo busy with uni I dont even know where my home is anymore. Sigh. Just finished one project this evening, and received another one!!! Projects piling up on top of projects, assignments piling up as tall as KL tower, not to mention exams/tests coming one after another. It was a real mistake to overload with the current subjects man. Stubborn. All because I was stubborn. Thinking that I can.

Murphy's Law. I'm sure you all know what it is right? Hahaha. If something can go wrong, it will go wrong, at the worst possible times. It did not only happen today, it happens almost everyday!!!

1st event - lab report due. There are 5 of us. But until the time we slot the report into the tutor's box, one of the guy is still a no-show. Leaving me to produce a introduction/summary and some calculations tie-up last minute yesterday. And by the time I saw that email, it was already past 7pm, and I was still at uni. I only slept 4 hours last night, trying to do that report, and writing up my assignment which is due tomorrow. Rock up to uni today, just to confirm that he has everything. Only to realise that he has not compiled everything together!!! They are all in their separate bits! So much for that "I will write up the conclusion and compile everything" talk!!! Sigh. In the end all 4 of us were in the computer lab, trying to compile everything together and see what fits where. Not to mention realising the diagram that my friend drew was for the wrong robot!!! Argh!!! Hence instead of testing and fixing the load cell, half the time I was trying to help compile the report.

2nd event - my load cell. We decided that we should ground one of the pins from the amplifier, and ended up with totally different results, although they looked better. Hahaha. Hence had to re-calculate everything, re-produce design documentation, re-box it and all. All within 1.5 hrs before it was due. Running back and forth from the lab to the computer lab. Not to mention "interruptions" from the computing guy who is helping me set up an IP address for a super super old computer we're going to use for the Telerobot. Sigh. Finally finished everything, plugged the load cell into the PC for testing... the voltage decreased when a load was applied, when it really should INCREASE!!! Haih... found out much later that we wired the strain gauges the wrong way round. So it was realising a lot of things today, good that we realised it before the assessment, bad that we had to almost re-do everything. Luckily the lecturer gave us time to fix the problem. In the end we just turned the load cell upside down. Hahaha. It worked. But I think we failed terribly!!! Terribly terribly!!! Documentation wasnt good enough, values were "unreliable" - plugged from the most unreliable source in the world: the BAD BAD INTERNET!!! Bad circuit diagram, and everything else that can be bad, was just BAD. Hahaha. The only thing we got a 100% for was the functionality and design. I think we just failed as "good" engineers. We were so disappointed, devastated!!! All the effort, frustrations, time - all kinda went down the bin... haih...

3rd event - the traffic jam. Going to uni during peak hour only means one thing - JAM!!! A journey that usually takes approx 15mins, ahem, took me more than 40minutes!!! I realised that are lots of sleepy drivers in the morning! damn!! didnt you have your morning coffee boost?!?! wake up!!! Some people just drive like a snail, some drive like its Sunday, and some cant even drive!!! Guess which category I fit into? Hahaha. Of course the last one lah :P Anyway... was rushing in the jam, not that you can really rush, but at least not stuck in a chock-a-block lane! This blonde overtook into my lane, driving so slowly!!! omg! I dont know how many times I must have shouted at her. Ahem. She drives so slow, looking in the mirror almost every 2 minutes to look at her face! Gosh!!! Would you please concentrate on the road? There are people like me who needs to get somewhere you know!!! Stupid blonde!!! Havent seen one that is THAT vain! I left the house 5-10 minutes later than usual, but that time was multiplied 3-4 times by the time I got to uni!!! argh!!!

I'm sorry I'm complaining so much here. Hahaha. Just finished my assignment which is due tomorrow. Was actually finished last night, then just before I went to sleep, I realised I made a very stupid algebra mistake!! stupid me cant cross-multiple. Tsk tsk. Calling myself a 4th year engineering undergrad. Hence I just spent the whole night, correcting the super super long question because it contains so many sub-questions!!! and also comparing graphs with a friend, trying to decide which is the right graph, which is the right function, why and why.

Sigh. Been super hardworking past few nights. Sleeping at 2-3am, rocking up at uni by 8am. Bz bz bz until leaving uni only at 8.30pm one day. Breaking my own record by staying more than 12 hours at uni. I actually dont mind staying at uni. I feel that I can do a lot of stuff at uni because everything is there. But when not everything goes to plan, which is always the case, and when you're starving since lunch, feeling so sleepy your eyes can barely open, it's not such an attractive option anymore.

Things I learnt today...wahahaha...
1. if there is anything that can go wrong, it will, at the worst possible time.
2. do not rely on others to do something. Always be prepared to only receive half the job done.
3. do not trust the bad bad internet for information!!!
4. always bring lots of snacks for emergency hunger! hahaha.

k lah people. Damn late already. Another 8am day tomorrow. Bye!!!
