Cookies! with love..

Remember the failure that got made into a success? Hahaha... here is the real thing I was making.. london almond cookies

I got up one morning and thought, "Hmm. I'll make this cookie for *someone*. And then I'll post it all the way to Brisbane. Hahaha. It's going to be a surprise!!! *evil grin* " But knowing myself, I can barely keep the secret to myself when its something so exciting!!! Have to zip my mouth, so 'sanfu' ah!!

So I melted the chocolates on Sunday right after I came back from uni to do my project. It was already the last day of holidays, and I thought, if I dont do it today, I'll never be able to finish it. I went out to buy normal cooking chocolate and another pack of compound chocolate. Put them into the pot, started boiling the water and hoped for the best...

They melted pretty quickly. And soon it was nice and creamy. Hehehe. As soon as it melted completely, I removed it from the stove. I think I must have over-boiled the chocolates the first round, that's why they were so thick. This time it was beautiful... hehehe.

These are the cookies I baked on Friday, all waiting to be coated with chocolate..

See how much I made? One whole recipe is about 160 pieces. Mould until my hands were so sore. Took me 4 hours just to do all that ok!!! From mixing the dough, to getting the almonds roasted, to wrapping the almond in the dough, then shape it so that its nice. Then baking it. Wah!!! Usually when my aunty in KL makes this cookie for CNY me and my sisters would be so scared because its so much work. I still cant believe I did all that myself, for what? All for the sake of trying to make someone happy.

When I told my aunty that I wanted to bake this cookie the other day she was like,

"Huh? Why? Why suddenly want to bake?"

ERrr.. want to eat loh. Hehe.

Then I asked her if I can post food across Australia. How long will it take? Is it safe? Expensive?

"Why so gan jeong? Post to bf ah?"

O_O NO! My friend bday mah. So I'm making some for her loh.

LAME!!!

Back to the chocolate dipping..

I only intended to coat enough cookies to post over. Looking at them, looking at the remaining chocolate in the packet, I thought, "ah! I'll finish it today lah. If I dont finish it, it's going to sit in the pantry forever!!" I finally did all of them. I cant believe I was so patient. But looking at the cookies that I made, looking at them, thinking I'm going to post them to *someone* as a surprise, I felt that it was all worth it...

looking good... hehehe

All these in 1 hr 15 mins, feeling very unproductive, and when I look at how much more I have left, I almost fainted...

after 4 hours of hard work...

Went to class on Monday, typed my report, handed it in, and went to the post office. Express post or normal post? Express post or normal post? Express post is quite expensive, but at least it wont be "nowhere" for a few days! Not to mention weather is getting warm, I dont want my cookies to melt!!! Express post 'guarantees delivery within the next business day'. Ahem. But since I'm posting to a suburb it will arrive on Wednesday wor..

"Ok. The postage will cost $29.90."

-_-"

$30 on postage. So damn ex ah!!! But nevermind lah. I just hope it arrives "safely" and on time. Pray pray pray!!! Finally the whole box of cookies was out of my hands...

Hehehe. Surprised? Hmm.. my friend was. He keeps telling me "I still cant believe you actually did that. My niece! Baking!!! Haha." Cant believe? I only gave him little bit lah, no need to butter up so much gua?!

The parcel arrived at 8am this morning, Eastern states time. Hahahaha. I'm so happy it arrived, safely, and someone was still at home to receive it. Hehe. Yay!!! Now waiting for feedback..

Folks, Express Post is a very reliable service, although it might cost you a bit. Haha :P
