An achievement?

jealousy?

I dont feel too happy when friends tell me "just crap lah. Crap and get the job". Offended I guess.

Not sure if that is reflective of the recruitment criteria in Msia or I am simply a very poor crapper.

I feel a bit exploited as well. Feels like I'm trying so hard to get a job here in Perth when my friends are just crapping, and wala! they get a job.

not to mention, sounds quite easy for friends in KL to get interviews/eventually work in big companies while I am struggling here in Perth.

Is it really that much harder to get into a big corporate in Aust or is it just too easy in Msia?

When they ask me what sort of interview questions I get asked, they say "wow" and then tell me to crap.

I personally dont think crapping will get me the job. Because if you think about it, these people have been in the industry for many years and they have interviewed thousands of people like you. Will crapping really get you the job? To me, it will make you look stupid as you attempt to con your way thru the interview. I believe honesty is the best policy. And the ability to "sell" yourself is important. But this is simply my personal opinion. It might be true that crapping is another important skill.

But if crapping is an important skill, my very-competitive friend should not get the rejection letter he never thought he would get. I digress.

Sometimes I think of the success of securing a job here in Perth as an achievement. For I am fighting with aussies and other foreigners (european, american etc) for the job. If I get the job, I have done well. I know some of you might highlight the issue of racism where aussies prefer to employ aussies. I personally do not think about that issue. There are racists in aussie. But there are also people who are genuine.

Hence I have always comforted myself by knowing I have competed with some competitive people in the market where I do not have a racial advantage (like chinese over indians/malay) and English is not my first language. I always remind myself that I have also gone through some tough interview questions and assessment sessions where every question and task is behavioural in nature to assess you as a potential employee.

And therefore, I am proud to say,

People, I have found a job ^__^
