*omg*

Yesterday an ex-commerce tutor of mine asked if I was free to help him mark some assignments for the unit I previously done. Since I was basically sitting at home rotting, I said "sure, why not."

He's not exactly a friend of mine. More of a tutor-become-friend because of my so-called excellently written assignment that gained his attention.

Upon arriving there, I was basically all ready to get down to business - marking guidelines. He basically told me the important bits to look out for full marks - time was a constraint given that its now swot vac and students want their assignments back before exams.

I was only there for a short while - I was keen to help out, but not that keen to be marking with him in his empty house (read: me and him only). Seeing the amount of assignments to be marked, I basically focused on the marking.

Damn anti-social actually. There are times when he suggested some topics but when I replied, he seem to busy to listen to my reply... O_o" My first impression was, why bother asking if he's not even prepared to pretend to listen to me.

Anyway. For the first hour, I was already getting a bit agitated. He probably got up of his seat for the n-th time in that short hour. Toilet. Blowing his nose. Getting snacks. Getting another jacket. All sorts.

I dont know about you. I assumed he really needed help because he couldnt manage all the marking in time himself. But from what I can observe, he couldnt manage it because of other reasons. As time passes, he would suddenly stop marking and rest his head on his hand rested on the table. You know, the gesture that people give when they're halfway working and get hit by a huge headache? A few times. And what shocked me most was, halfway through the marking, he told me he's going to take a short nap - lack of sleep the previous night and stressed with his phd thesis due soon.

I was taken aback. In my heart I was thinking, you get me here to help you and you're going to take a nap?!??! I'm not even that close to him as a friend that he can take naps whenever I'm invited over ok!! Of course I kindly said, "sure. I'll be fine".

As soon as he stepped into his room for his much-needed nap, I kept looking at the time on my phone. I couldnt wait to get out of this place. I told him I've gotta leave at 6pm and from 5.20pm onwards, I kept wishing the clock will strike 6........

To me, it was simple courtesy to be there whenever you invite someone over. Especially when you invite them over to help you with something. You dont leave them doing the work while you yourself dont show enthusiasm in getting the job done.

Maybe it was a simple bad-time-coincidence. But seriously, I dont think I want to have anything too much to do with him.

Who wants to guess where he comes from? ahahahaha. 30 year old single finishing his thesis in business econometrics..
